Carole Caldwell Graebner, who won doubles titles at the U.S. and Australian Championships in the 1960s, died Wednesday. She was 65. Graebner died in New York City following a brief battle with cancer, said her daughter, Cameron Graebner Mark. The top-ranked doubles player in the United States in 1963, Graebner teamed with Nancy Richey to capture doubles titles at the 1965 U.S.

Wimbledon to regain All England Club (AP)
Wimbledon organizers will pay $83 million to regain total control of the All England Club, buying back the 50 percent it gave away in 1934. The amount will be paid to Britain’s Lawn Tennis Association in installments over a likely five-year period from 2013, after the existing agreement expires, All England Club chairman Tim Phillips told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Miss. St. player arrested on rape charge (AP)
Authorities say a Mississippi State tennis player has been arrested and charged with raping a 20-year-old woman during a party at his apartment. Police in Oktibbeha (Ock-ti-be-HA) County say Christopher Richard Doerr, who is from London, was released from jail Tuesday after posting a $50,500 bond. The 20-year-old junior also faces a charge of furnishing beer to a minor.
